“I wouldn’t go into church. I would sit in the alley and it was quiet and read Civil War.”
When my daughter first started high school, she met the Kessinger kids. Tom Kessinger was instrumental in getting my daughter, Shannon, involved in church. I wouldn’t go into church. I would sit in the alley and it was quiet and read Civil War – about the Cyclorama.
Then Shannon started being the crucifer and I thought, “I’d better going in to church” because I didn’t want to miss this. Then I met my friend Amelia at church. Amelia came and helped us when we had our hardware store on the North Side of Pittsburgh. She came and worked for us on the weekends. Amelia is such a giving woman. I’m way behind her giving, both monetarily and socially. She’s always giving, she’s always thinking about something. I can always count on her when I need something. My faith came to a head by going to church and practicing. The Kessingers brought us in by bringing Shannon in. They brought everybody in.
