The summer after my junior year in High School I was accepted to do a research program in Bar Harbor, Maine, looking at genetic defects and their relation to epilepsy. I was super excited because my younger sister was diagnosed with epilepsy. I went and it made me realize how big the world is, how much there is to learn, and how much we don’t know, which is what made me want to study neuroscience at University of Pittsburgh.
