“You live this life and you don’t realize until you have children that this life is more than just about you.”

You don’t realize until you have children that this life is more than just about you. Everything you do is preparing you to prepare someone else. Our lives are not really about ourselves. I realized that my children were going to reflect how I lived. It made me change things that weren’t up to par.

I came from a dysfunctional family and realizing what I didn’t get from them, I didn’t want my children to experience that. So, when I became a father, it became a serious role, probably the most important thing in my life. My daughter I going to be 16 on Monday. My son will be 13. They’re good kids. They want to do the right thing. They’re both athletes and push to excel. I just pray that that’s the course that they’ll go on through the rest of their life. There has to be some type of light at the end of the tunnel or we’d just get lost in the darkness.
