Ten years ago, I got out of the military and perfected the art of drinking. Recently I made the decision not to drink anymore and life has gotten dramatically better – financially, physically, mentally. I found Shepherd’s Heart through a Veterans Affairs program.
The military was a structured environment. There was a lot of travel and good times, and a lot of work learning the discipline. I was living a structured life, being on time when you are supposed to be there etc. I’m working now. Keeps me out of trouble. I remodel people’s kitchens and bathrooms. In the military, I was a forward observer. I spotted artillery rounds and later got into munitions. That didn’t translate too well to the civilian world so I ended up hiring on with construction outfits.
